Neutron importance based lattice-to-core projection technique and its application for HTGR design using Monte Carlo method

In general, a nuclear core design process is divided into two subsequent phases, namely the fuel lattice phase, and followed by full phase such as for light water reactor (LWR). The optimal parameters obtained from can be used in straightforward manner since neutron mean free path much smaller than assembly dimensions. Unfortunately, above-mentioned favorable situation may not applicable high-temperature gas-cooled (HTGR) process. this paper, HTGR process, we propose new technique based on importance concept to make projection of so that optimization works required significantly reduced. proposed implemented Japanese High-Temperature Engineering Test Reactor find composition achieve an average discharge burnup 80 GWd/tU using single-batch multi-batch refueling schemes. Important neutronics parameters, reactivity coefficient power profiles, are also discussed. Moreover, impact axial shuffling scheme compact temperature analyzed.
